My regularly schedule blog posts leading up to the launch of THE BARD’S GIFT will be interrupted today to remember Mom.
This is when she was young, obviously.
And with Dad, where she is again, now.
At the Adult Day Care, where they used to be visited by a friend’s therapy dogs.
Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2000, shortly after Dad died. (Though, in truth, she’d been showing symptoms for some time before that.) Now her memories are restored and she’s with Dad again. They were married for almost 60 years.

Miss you.
Dear Meredith, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was quite the lady and highly thought of in our family. Losing our Moms is not easy at any stage of our lives. You have my heartfelt condolences. I hope things go well for you in the future and please don’t hesitate to call when you feel better. Your tribute to your Mom is beautiful…thank you! Most sincerely, Judy

Meredith, why does the end of your tribute say your Mom’s name is Phyllis K. Mansfield? I thought her middle name was Pershing. Thanks for a reply. Love, Judy

Yes, Mom’s middle name was Pershing after the general. Her maiden name was Keith. And she always signed her name Phyllis K. Mansfield, so that’s what I used.

I like your view, Meredith. What a great reunion she’s having. Tough on the loved ones left behind, but what a joyous moment to be together again. *hugs*

It helps a little to think of them together again. They were high school sweethearts.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom, Meredith, but I really like how you said her memories are restored now. That’s how I think about my mom since she passed on – painfree, able to walk all day long if she wanted.
